ULTRASOUND
Ultrasound technology utilizes high frequency vibration, sound, to detect internal features of an object that are not visible to camera-based systems, or the human eye. An ultrasound system consists of a vibration emitter, called a transducer, and a sensor. The transducer emits pulses of high frequency sound at a specific rate, and the sensor picks up the echoes of the pulses as they are transmitted back through the object after having reflected off of features inside the object. The times of arrival of the echoes are calculated by the system, producing an image of the inside of the object.
One critical factor in the success of an ultrasound imaging system is the quality of the coupling between the ultrasound sensor and the object to be tested. Many techniques are used to enhance this coupling, including the use of gel between the object and the transducer, and immersion of the transducer and the object in a liquid such as water.
Miralogix has developed a revolutionary approach for application of ultrasound for inspection and detection of internal cracks and defects in catalytic substrates. Utilizing a proprietary mechanism for applying a Phased Array ultrasound head to the substrate, it is able to accurately and reliably detect internal defects in catalytic substrates. The system stores and displays the data that is acquired by the system in such a way that the defects can easily be found and located within the part. This information is viewable in 3-D.
In the laboratory or on the production floor, CATPRO Ultrasound inspection is the most efficient and effective system available for testing for internal defects. It provides the ability to perform critical inspections quickly and accurately, ensuring quality in every part.
Send us your parts and we will run a full evaluation and report so you can see the results of a CATPRO Ultrasound inspection first hand.
